Breaking barriers in the language industry since 1999, we soar beyond mere translations and interpretations as a pioneering woman and minority-led language services company.
Our History
Barbier International is a global language services company (LSC) that was conceived in the 1960’s when our founder, Jenny Barbier Bruce, who received a high school American Field Service Scholarship to the United States, had the opportunity to visit the United Nations in New York City. It was then that she knew that she wanted to devote her life to international business and eventually founded Barbier International.
Established in Oregon in 1999, Barbier provides comprehensive language solutions to esteemed clients like Nike, Intel, Hewlett Packard, Starbucks, and The Standard Insurance Company. Today, we offer a wide range of services including translation, interpretation, transcription, graphic design, desktop publishing, subtitling, voiceovers and language assessments to clients worldwide.
Barbier has expanded its reach from Portland, Oregon, to Los Angeles, California, Guatemala City, Guatemala, and Madrid, Spain. Specializing in Spanish and Indigenous Mayan Languages, we also offer expertise in over 200 languages. Each month, we handle multilingual projects involving 20 or more languages, provide interpretation services in over 50 languages, and offer language assessment, transcription, and recording services in various global languages. At Barbier, we’ve transformed our founder’s vision into a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive environment reminiscent of the United Nations.
